Cristina Fernández, Warden

Cristina Fernández joined St. Thomas Episcopal Church in 2019 after moving to Mamaroneck with her husband Derek and two children, Ariana and Antonio. She is an active member of the Mamaroneck/Rye Neck community and co-troop leader for a local Girl Scout troop at the F.E. Bellows Elementary School.

Cristina works as a general pediatrician, newborn hospitalist, and health disparities researcher at the Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City.

Born in Panamá, Cristina was baptized into the Episcopal Diocese of Panamá as a baby. From childhood through adulthood she has been part of vibrant Episcopalian congregations in Chicago; Silver Spring, Maryland; Washington D.C.; St. Louis; and the Manhattan Valley neighborhood in New York City.

It is important for Cristina to support the mission and vision of St. Thomas, especially around Christian youth ministry and community outreach.

Vestry

Glen Oxton, Warden

Like many people, Glen’s parents found the Episcopal church to be the middle ground between their Catholic and Protestant backgrounds. Glen’s father was in the Air Force, and the family moved often, but always found community in the local Episcopal church.  Glen was born in Boston. When he was six months old, he and his mother joined his father in post-war Japan. The family later moved to Colorado, then to Morocco, New Orleans, and New Jersey, where Glen spent his high school years.

Glen graduated from Dartmouth College in the Vietnam era. He joined the Navy where he spent three years, first as gunnery officer, then navigator aboard a destroyer in the Atlantic Fleet. He also served as the ship’s (non-lawyer) legal officer, which led to his decision to attend law school after his discharge from the Navy.

Following graduation from Vanderbilt Law School, Glen joined the maritime law firm of Healy & Baillie, where for 33 years he handled contract cases in arbitration and federal court and ship financing. He was a partner in Blank Rome for four years following a merger of the firms. In 2010 he hung up his own shingle and continues to handle maritime transactions under the Oxton Law banner.

He is married to Susan Johnston, also a lawyer, now retired. They have two daughters, Emma and Kate. He plays trumpet with the Excelsior Symphony Orchestra and is an occasional volunteer bugler for veteran’s funerals. He also enjoys woodworking and sailing.

Glen Is an enthusiastic member of the St. Thomas choir. Participating in the St. Thomas community is an important part of his life.

Vestry

Solange De Santis, Vestry

Solange grew up in Bayside, Queens and moved to Mamaroneck in 2008. Since she could see St. Thomas’ tower from her apartment, she joined the church and, subsequently, the choir, finding a friendly and welcoming environment. She is also on the hospitality committee and has volunteered at the Christmas Fair and thrift shop. Music is one of her passions and she has been involved in producing several extracurricular music events at St. Thomas.

While living in Milton, Ontario, Canada, she attended an Anglican Church of Canada church and returned to New York to be editor of the Episcopal Church’s former national newspaper, Episcopal Life. She subsequently edited a successor publication, Episcopal Journal.

Her professional background is in journalism (Associated Press, Reuters, Wall Street Journal) and corporate communications. Currently, she is Executive Director of the Excelsior Symphony Orchestra and Director of Marketing for the Friends of Music chamber-music producing group. She holds a B.A. degree from Barnard College, a master’s degree from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism and a master’s degree in Educational Theatre from N.Y.U.

Solange’s daughter, Flo, is a young adult and member of the congregation. Solange also delights in visiting her two stepdaughters, their spouses and her four grandchildren in Ontario, Canada. She cherishes the years-long friendships she has made at St. Thomas.

Vestry

Robert Ingenito, Vestry

Robert Ingenito has lived in Mamaroneck with his wife Kim and their daughter Emma since 2018. Upon first attending St. Thomas Church, they were immediately struck by the progressive and inclusive values (as well as the high quality of music from the St. Thomas Choir) and have remained active parishioners and choir members ever since.

Robert grew up on Long Island and graduated from Skidmore College. He subsequently pursued a one-year United States Fulbright Scholarship to study anthropology in the Philippines. Upon his return to the United States, Robert continued his studies in anthropology at the University of Washington in Seattle. For over 15 years Robert worked in the fundraising and communications fields, skills he brings to the Vestry’s work.

In addition to singing in the choir, organizing the annual Advent Garden on the labyrinth, cooking for the parish picnic, and putting away chairs in Heathcote Hall, one of Robert’s favorite St. Thomas memories is wheeling his father Jerry in his wheelchair (with granddaughter Emma sitting on grandpa’s lap) to the outdoor Compline service.

Robert knows first-hand the great importance of the inclusive intergenerational community of St. Thomas Church. The friendships he made with other parishioners while talking about caring for his aging father reminded him that caregiving is not an isolated experience, but one that affects us all. In February 2024, Robert’s father had a beautiful and meaningful funeral service at St. Thomas, providing warmth and support in faith and love.

Over the years, the St. Thomas community has become like family. On the weekends, she is usually cheering on her son at his sports games. Vestry

Pierce Wade, Vestry

Pierce lives in New Rochelle with his partner, Jenn Micceri. He grew up in eastern Washington state, being raised spiritually in the Methodist church. He first attended services in the Anglican communion while on a study abroad program in the UK, and was confirmed in 2010 at Calvary Episcopal Church in Columbia, Missouri where he was completing an MA in Classical Languages. He began attending St. Thomas shortly after moving to Mamaroneck in 2016; he and Jenn became members in 2022.

Pierce has been a teacher of Latin, history, and mythology at the undergraduate, high school, and middle school levels since 2008. Since 2021 he has been teaching Latin at the Masters School in Dobbs Ferry. It's no surprise that a lot of his favorite parts of the St. Thomas community have been learning-focused: reading groups and the Sacred Ground Program that he and Jenn joined in 2020 along with several other St. Thomas members, though he also enjoys a rousing Game Night. He likes to spend his free time reading, watching movies, cooking, camping, and playing table-top role playing games.

Pierce is excited to be an active member of St. Thomas at this particular moment: our church has so many unique opportunities to be God's hands and feet in our community!
